Customer Update on Scrap Silver Payment, Processing, & Refining

Mon Oct 13th 8AM – JHCB Resuming Most Silver Scrap Purchasing

October 13, 2025 8:00 am – Good morning, We continue to monitor the ever-shifting conditions in the silver market. We’ve highlighted some important updates below:

RESUMING MOST SILVER SCRAP PURCHASING MONDAY: Jack Hunt will resume purchasing most scrap silver on a limited basis today. The daily maximum of silver scrap per customer will be 500 toz. US90% does not count toward the maximum. Buy rates have been adjusted to reflect extended refining times in the industry. Your sales to us will be paid quickly upon processing. Current processing times are 3-8 business days for silver. Advances for silver sales over $5,000 are not available and will be paid upon processing.

New scrap rates for all customers:


– Sterling Flatware/Hollowware Spot x .83

– Sterling Jewelry Spot x .80

– Knives Spot x .38

– Coin Flatware Spot x .78

– US90% -2.75

– Silver Melts (Must be a minimum 85% fine) Spot x .90 no fees

LOW GRADE SILVER PURCHASES STILL SUSPENDED: Lower grade silver such as War Nickels, US40%, Canadian 50%/80%, Mexican 72% will not be purchased at this time. Basically anything 80% or below.

SILVER SPOT PRICING

: There continues to be a dislocation between London/NY silver pricing, but the differential is starting to narrow. As of this morning the London fix is still +1.58 over December COMEX. Our silver spot prices will be determined today as follows:

– Bid: DEC COMEX Flat

– Ask: DEC COMEX +1.65

These are subject to change throughout the day without notice.




WHAT ABOUT GOLD?

: Gold refining times and spot prices continue to remain unaffected. Jack Hunt will process your gold under normal turnaround times and normal rates.
